Article Brief & Submission Guidelines
We are working on an opportunity for Postgraduate students to publish articles as part of a news outlet. The format will be similar to “The Conversation” but allows for a wider range of contributors to also participate. Although we will focus on current events happening around the world (such as the COVID-19 pandemic) through a humanitarian lens, articles on your own research is also welcome.
We are happy to receive reflective pieces but it is very important that your article offers a constructive commentary.
Please follow the guidelines below when writing your article:
- Working papers need to be between 2000-5000 words in length, opinion pieces need to be less than 1200 words
- Must be written in a Word document, Ariel, Font size 12, line spacing 1.5, justified text
- Use the position-essay template as a guideline for your writing
- Title needs to be attention-grabbing
- Although this is still an academic piece, it needs to be written for a wider audience to understand so do not use unnecessarily difficult words or jargon
- Please use hyperlinks to articles, referencing and add a bibliography
Submission’s Process:
- Articles must please be submitted through the portal for it to go through the review process.
- Once it has been reviewed, it will be sent back to you for adjustments before being edited and published.
The articles will be published on www.castup.co.za.
Article should be in the following format:
